Benalla teenger Zak Best's debut in the opening round of the Kumho Tyre Australian V8 Touring Car Series at Phillip Island on the weekend could not have been any better, than best foot forward.

16 year old Best finished the weekend 2nd outright for the round opener behind Brad Jones defending champion Jack Smith, while Best’s teammate Tyler Everingham in third.

“I was pretty happy about just getting it off the line and finishing second, it wasn't until an official presented me with the winners sticker that I became aware.”

Shepparton’s Garry Jacobson, Dunlop Super2 Series MW Motorsport driver spent time with Best on Saturday. “It was fantastic to run through data and talk to Garry after the sessions, I learn’t so much from Garry. I’m very grateful for his assistance, guidance and the valuable time he gave me.”

“ Without the fantastic support I received from, Winton Motor Raceway, Best Leisure Industries, Revolution Racegear, Access Fastners and Don Sparks Steel I wouldn’t have the opportunity to compete in my first V8 Touring event.”

“I received many comments about the wrap for the FG, it was designed by Riley Curtis Designs, it looked very schmick.”

The series next round will be contested at the V8 Supercars Winton SuperSprint event at Winton Motor Raceway 28-20 May, whereby 16 year old Zak Best will get to compete at home track for the first time in his motorsport career.
