The finger pointing has begun in the Maroons camp after last night’s blowout but it’s not all bad news as a mouthwatering clash at Suncorp Stadium is now poised perfectly to decide this year’s series.

During his post-game press conference QLD coach Wayne Bennett singled out Courier Mail journalist Peter Badel for inciting the snafu between rival forwards Payne Hass and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui who were both sent to the sin bin for their part in the fight. The ‘super coach’ blamed the journalist for stirring the pot during the day with an article about the pair’s history of playing against each other at the U/18 level

Speaking on The Big Breakfast this morning NRL Insider Ben Dobbin told Marto, Margaux and Nick Cody that it’s not the first time Bennett has set his sights on certain  members of the media after a loss.

“He (Bennett) blames a journalist for writing a headline that starts the fight” Dobbo explained

“…Tino schooled him in the u/18s year ago, so then when they have the fight they get sin binned, Tino’s off his game because Payne Hass absolutely schooled him last night and then instead of just saying we didn’t play well Wayne just blames Peter Badel”

It’s not all bad news for Queensland though as last night’s defeat sets up a decider at the Cauldron next Wednesday night in front of a raucous 37,500 screaming Maroons fans and history is on Bennett’s side with NSW holding a horrific Game III record at Suncorp Stadium having lost 9 of the last 11 deciders at the venue.
