The New York Post reports that Dennis Dickey pleaded guilty last month to igniting the fire, which reportedly caused more than $A11.3 million worth of damage and took almost 800 firefighters to extinguish.

Dickey reportedly shot a target set-up in a field containing Tannerite, a legal (and highly explosive) substance meant to detonate when shot by a high velocity firearm.

Once the target the hit, the colour of the powder inside was revealed, therefore announcing to the world that the Dickey's were expecting a boy.

What he probably wasn't expecting was a humungous fire. Obviously.
