One bloke in France has been jailed for scanning a PlayStation 4 through a self check-out and saying it was fruit.

The 19-year-old from Nice, named Adel, grabbed himself a PlayStation 4 at a supermarket, walked over to the fruit section, weighed it, printed out a sticker and whacked it on the PlayStation box.

He then bought the PlayStation for around three kilograms worth of fruit, costing him about €9 ($14.24), according to French publication L'Est Republicain.

Pretty impressive considering a PS4 goes for around €340 ($538).

The most impressive thing? He wasn't even caught the first time.

Adel sold the PS4 for €100 ($157) to buy himself a train ticket before trying to pull the exact same swifty the next day, being caught by police.

Anyway, he's copped four months in jail for one of the great heists of our time.
