A pilot with more than a little time on his hands has announced his boredom in a striking display above South Australia.

According to news.com.au, the recently qualified instructor was tasked with testing a new plane "at a particular power setting for two hours" in the skies over the Mid North.

The anonymous pilot took off from Parafield Airport in the single propellor Diamond Star aircraft just before 9am Tuesday and headed north, before circling back.

About halfway into the flight, however, creativity seemed to strike and live tracking programs showed a couple of resplendent penises being traced across the sky.

This was then followed by a looping declaration of "I'm Bored" right above the Princes Highway, before the plane landed back at Parafield Airport around midday.

ABC have tracked the flight using FlightRadar24; check it out below.

The director of Flight Training Adelaide, where it's believed the pilot qualified, has denied that the actions were condoned, saying that "apparently he got bored".

"Young instructors, what can you do?" Pine Pienaar added.
