This morning Eddie McGuire broke the huge news that the West Gate Tunnel Project has hit a significant problem with a patch of soil contaminated with P-FAS, sending costs of the development spiraling.

The knock-on of the time and financial cost it will take to clear the problem means that the developer Transurban believe it will mean Melbourne commuters will be paying road tolls for another TWENTY years to cover the cost.

P-FAS has been found to be linked to cancer in animals and would require longer time to clear. Plus, workers would renegotiate their agreements before moving forward. Transurban has proposed they extend their agreement to collect money from Road Tolls for an additional 20 years to cover their costs.
