Bridge upgrades for Lightning Creek campsite
Ups accessibility for firies
Holidaymakers are being encouraged to find alternative camping spots as the Lightning Creek site near Mitta Mitta is set to close for work on its access bridge.
Upgrades worth $400,000 are on the table, to help get firefighting equipment through the park lands in a time of emergency.
DELWP reps note it's not currently up to Australian Standards, but fit-outs including concrete columns, an asphalt surface and guard rails are set to bring it up to scratch.
Forest Fire Management Victoria's Aaron Kennedy says the five months of construction is planned to occur outside the fire season and avoid disruptions to the threatened Spotted Tree Frog's breeding cycle.
