The Broncos continuing crisis has solicited the thoughts and opinions from all walks of the NRL and with no obvious solution in sight the noise only continues to grow.

Many former greats and old boys of the club have shared their views on team’s fortunes although the impact of these viewpoints on the players has not yet been examined. Currently sitting at 2-6 for the 2020 season the team’s frustration with their own performance was abundantly clear when tears were filmed falling from the eyes of senior players after Saturday’s shock loss to the Warriors at Central Coast Stadium.

However, assistant coach Peter Ryan this evening has spoken out about the effect of these comments on the playing group.

Ryan, who played 147 games for the club, has told The Rush Hour this evening that it's tough for the young crop to hear these comments from their former playing heroes.

“It hurts them the most because those guys are the guys they looked up to when they were kids” he told Dobbo.

Ryan, it must be said, in no way bemoaned what was being said by the former greats, instead highlighting how much their wisdom would be appreciated at the Clive Berghofer Centre.

“I’d rather have those guys standing on the sideline here at the training sessions and having the connection with a certain number of groups…this is what I experienced when I was playing”.

In good news for the Broncos young star Kotoni Staggs has passed training unscathed today and will return from a hamstring injury for Saturday night’s clash with the bottom-placed Bulldogs. Senior players Brodie Croft and Anthony Milford can also breathe sighs of relief after Anthony Seibold resisted wielding the axe, opting to stick with the halves combination.
