It's an absolutely boiling day in Sydney today, so be sure to spare a thought for those affected by train dramas this afternoon.

Passengers on the T1 Western Line are having trouble travelling between Penrith and Emu Plains due to urgent track repairs underway at Emu Plains.

Issues started just after 3pm, with buses replacing trains, and trains commencing and terminating at Penrith.

Bus companies are running a replacement service between Penrith and Emu Plains, with commuters urged to allow extra travel time.

Blue Mountains trains are continuing to operate, but there may be delays.

UPDATE: Sydney trains have advised at 6pm that services are now resuming between Penrith and Emu Plains.
