The Queensland Community Foundation (QCF) this week invited all Queensland based photographers, instagrammers, philanthropists and charities to enter the QCF Photo Challenge.
Joy Mingay is the chair of the local QCF sub-fund, the Toowoomba Regional Community Fund. She’s calling on all local photographers and charities to get an entry in.
“I’d love to see the winning entry come from the Toowoomba region,” she said.
“The challenge only runs this month, so get your entries in quick. The winning entry will receive a $2,000 donation for the charity of their choice and a $500 prize for the photographer.”
Entry is simple. Take a photo and post it on Instagram or Facebook, tagging QCF and using QCF Photo Challenge hashtags #qcf #qcfphotochallenge19 #dogoodqld OR submit your entry at www.qcf.org.au/photo_challenge_2019.
“Everyone these days has a camera on their phone, so it’s easy, and you will be helping QCF highlight some of the good work being done in Toowoomba and the Darling Downs,” Ms Mingay said.
“The photograph needs to tell a story which celebrates and inspires giving, kindness and compassion. Photographers can team up with non-profit organisations, or enter independently.”
Ms Mingay said the challenge was a great opportunity to profile the work of your favourite charity and win some cash for them and for you.
“We all know how extraordinarily generous Toowoomba people are in supporting those in need, and I’m sure there are some wonderful photographers in the region who can capture some of that giving attitude in an image,” she said.
The photo challenge is run by QCF to support and promote philanthropy and giving in our community. The picture can be realistic or conceptual, specific or broad. It can be an act of compassion, kindness, doing good or highlight a specific cause or issue. Queenslanders, and Queensland based charities can enter multiple entries into the challenge.
The photo challenge is open to professional and amateur photographers, and closes on April 30. Visit qcf.org.au/photo_challenge/ for more information on how to enter.
