Cassie Sainsbury 'Was A Prostitute' Before Flying To Colombia

As she sits and waits for a trial in a Colombian jail, new revelations have emerged about alleged Aussie drug mule Cassie Sainsbury. 

Rival programs 60 Minutes and Sunday Night both aired stories on "Cocaine Cassie" on Sunday night.. her fiance, Scott Broadbridge, speaking with Seven, while her mother and sister sat down with Nine. 

One of the most explosive claims is that Cassie had been working as a prostitute in Sydney for the final 6 months of last year, at the "Club 220" brothel. 

A fellow sex worker spoke with Nine, but only after agreeing for her identity to be kept a secret. 

"Cassandra is not the naive, sweet little blonde girl that everybody thinks she is,"

She also revealed Cassie had lied to fellow prostitutes about her mother being sick, and eventually dying. 

"She said that her mum was suffering from MS and was in a private hospital in Sydney, that she didn't have private health insurance but Cassandra had done a deal with the private hospital and they were giving her reduced fees but she had run up quite a debt" 

The fellow worker says she, and others, had been shocked to see her mother supporting her after her arrest: 

"[While she was at the brothel] she had a phone call saying her mum was dying, and then another call saying her mum had died.. passed away from MS.."

She claimed she, and several other workers, had given Cassie money to help her through her family's loss. 

Her mother.. who's very much alive and had travelled to Bogota with Channel 9.. says she stands by her daughter. 

"It goes against everything she stands for," she said. 

"I believe she's a 100 per cent innocent and I always will."

Sainsbury's lawyer Orlando Herran revealed the 22-year-old was in financial trouble after problems with her fitness business when she answered a Craigslist ad offering a loan and trip to London.

He said the itinerary was changed at the last minute before Sainsbury met a mystery man, who showed her pictures of her family and fiance and made threats in Colombia.

"If you don't get to fly we will be threatening or killing your family or you,", is what Cassie had been told, according to her lawyer. 

"Cassandra isn't a bad person. She is a young girl with a ... mistake."

On Seven, meantime, partner Scott Broadbridge made no mention of his partner's apparent history in the sex industry. 

Instead, Scott said Cassie had told him she was working for her uncle's cleaning company before he sold the business to a mysterious couple named Karen and June, who allegedly paid for her trip to Colombia. 

That uncle, Neil Sainsbury, was also on the program, denying the claims: 

"That's a claim that I categorically deny.. I have never owned a cleaning business, I've never owned any business" 

"I don't have any tolerance to drugs. I have zero tolerance to people that use drugs or are involved in drugs,"

Her father Stuart agreed, saying his daughter's story did not stack up.
