A total fire ban is in place across the Central Ranges, including Orange, Bathurst, Cabonne, Blayney and Cowra.

With the current hot, dry and windy conditions, the NSW Rural Fire Service has declared the ban, which means that no fires can be lit in the open.

During a TFB, we must not light, maintain, or use a fire in the open. We are also banned from carrying out any activities that could cause a fire, including hot works, like welding or gas cutting.

Central West residents are being urged to be prepared for the elevated fire risk that comes with the heatwave conditions. We should also create, and stay up to date with a bush fire survival plan.

We can stay up-to-date with Fire Danger Ratings, Nearby Fires and Total Fire Bans, at the RFS website.
