Champion Data has clarified how they will record stats from kick-ins next year.

Previously kick-ins had not counted as disposals unless the player had kicked the ball to themselves before disposing of it.

But the rule changed to allow players to leave the goal square without having to play it to themselves, leading to Champion Data to have to reconsider their data collection.

Basically kicks will be awarded to the player once they leave the goal square, and handballs will be recorded anywhere they’re taken from.
