A 20-year-old Tasmanian woman remains in Melbourne's Alfred Hospital receiving specialist treatment for burns to more than fifty percent of her body following an incident at a Chigwell house on Monday.

The young woman remains in a critical condition in an induced coma and will undergo surgery today. She is expected to require medical treatment in Melbourne for many months.

The man accused of causing grievous bodily harm and other matters, who did not apply for bail, has been remanded in custody to appear in the Tasmanian Supreme Court on 13 June 2017.
