Brisbane has confirmed Chris Fagan needs surgery on his hamstring.

Fagan slipped out of the pool after participating in the Big Freeze, crashing on the stairs and hurting his hamstring.

The Lions confirmed on Tuesday afternoon Fagan has ruptured his hamstring tendon, with the coach needing surgery.

The Lions coach had dressed as a reverend to go down the slide, a reference to Neale Daniher's nickname during their time together at Melbourne.
