The City Road Bridge has shown Montague Street that it's not the only bridge in South Melbourne with an appetite for destruction.
A truck which wasn’t under the clearance height smashed into the bridge just after 1pm today near Market Street.
The truck was wedged and the street was closed both ways.
Emergency services have arrived on the scene and have closed off traffic. For people travelling that way it has been suggested by Vic Traffic to take either Clarendon, Moray, Ferrars or York Street.
The route 96 tram which uses the rail bridge was closed initially re-opened in a matter of minutes.
More to come.
