A 66 year old Boambee East man charged with using a carriage service to send indecent material to a person under 16 has been released on conditional bail.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation, following reports a 15 year old girl had received indecent and sexually-explicit messages from a man known to her.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested the 66 year old man at a home in Boambee East just after 2pm on Thursday.

The man faced Coffs Harbour Local Court on Friday morning before Magistrate Gibson.

He entered a not guilty plea for the two charges.

During the appearance, his bail was set to attend once daily, three times a week and was instructed to surrender his passport.

Part of the man’s strict bail conditions include not having contact with any child under the age of 16, and to not access or use any social media platform or email.

He is due to reappear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on 23 April 2019.
