Company behind Baringa Hospital, Coffs Day Surgery in hot water
Ramsay Healthcare goes to court
The company which runs Baringa Hospital and Coffs Harbour Day Surgery has been accused of anti-competitive behaviour.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission will allege Ramsay Healthcare threatened doctors who wanted to set up their own day surgery, as the business dominates private healthcare facilities on the Coffs Coast.
The competition watchdog says Ramsay Healthcare staff approached surgeons, who indicated their time using the company’s operating theatres would be cut, if the venture went ahead.
The ACCC's seeking a string of penalties - including fines - as it takes the company to the Federal Court.
