Coolgardie Esperance Highway Fire

UPDATE AS OF 1:20pm Feb 22.

The current fire situation affecting the area near Goldfields Highway and Coolgardie Esperance Highway: 

Main Roads and DFES advise the Coolgardie Esperance Highway and Goldfields Highway is now closed between Coolgardie and Norseman. Goldfields Highway between Kambalda and the Coolgardie Esperance Highway is also now closed. 

The Watch and Act is still in place for the area, while a bushfire advice is still current for Kambalda.

The Fire is moving in an East North Easterly direction from the location around the Intersection of Coolgardie Esperance and Goldfields Highways. Avoid the area and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site.
A number of roads have been closed including:

• Coolgardie-Esperance Highway between Coolgardie and Norseman. Access to the highway from Kambalda is also closed.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.
