Leeton Shire Council has appointed Sam Webber to the role of Roxy Theatre Coordinator.

Council’s Manager Communications and Marketing Brent Lawrence said that Sam has worked in the performing arts and entertainment industry for over 6 years in various roles.

“We are very excited to welcome Sam to our Communications and Marketing team. He has held front and back of house coordination roles at Mid Coast Council’s Manning Entertainment Centre and with the Taree Arts Council.

On top of his theatre coordination experience, Sam is also an audio engineer where he has worked with Encore Event Technologies in a number of 5-star Sydney venues on over 8000 conferences and live events. Further to this, Sam has worked in recording studios as both an engineer and musician and, most recently, on a production of Les Misérables.”

“This production was put on by a small community theatre company and Sam played an integral role in facilitating this project. He has also worked frequently freelancing in the corporate event space, leading small teams of technicians to deliver high quality audio visual experiences for gala dinners, awards nights, conferences and other presentations. These roles have honed his skills in stagecraft etiquette, customer relations and event management responsibilities.”

Sam holds a Bachelor of Music with Honours majoring in audio production, music industry and music performance. He is also currently completing his Masters in Architectural Science (Audio and Acoustics) via distance education through the University of Sydney.

Sam will be moving to Leeton from Forster on the NSW mid north coast where he will join his long-time partner who has already been living in Leeton for the past six months after she accepted a teaching role at Yanco Agricultural High School earlier this year.

Upon his appointment to the role, Mr Webber said that he is very excited to be commencing his post at the Roxy Theatre.

“The Roxy Theatre is an iconic building that boasts so much character and authenticity. I’m particularly looking forward to connecting and meeting with members of the local community to encourage further participation in the Roxy as a live performance and cultural creative space.”

Sam will commence with Council on Monday 14th January 2019.
