Our boys in blue and grey have accepted an invitation from the Sunny Coast Council to play a trial match against the Gold Coast Titans on Saturday, February 23 next year.

The boys will run on at Sunshine Coast Stadium, in the first of two trials played leading into the 2019 season.

Last week it was announced that on March 2, the Cowboys will trial against the Melbourne Storm in Mackay.

The occasion will be the first time that the Cowboys have played a game on the Sunny Coast, and Cowboys Acting CEO Jeff Reibel said the club can't wait!

"We are delighted to be playing both our 2019 trial games in Queensland and for this particular game against another Queensland team," Reibel said.

"Our club has a healthy rivalry with the Gold Coast Titans and we look forward to adding another chapter on the Sunshine Coast next year.

"We are fortunate enough to have an extremely strong supporter base at home in North Queensland, but we are also aware we have a passionate following throughout the whole of Queensland, which is why we are excited to be playing our away trial at a large regional base like the Sunshine Coast in 2019."

Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said he expects the teams will attract a bumper crowd.

"We're delighted that the Cowboys have accepted our invitation and will play at the Sunshine Coast for the first time. To have them play another of our home state clubs in the Titans as they prepare for the new season will be a real attraction," he said.

"I know both clubs are looking forward to meeting their members and fans on the Sunshine Coast and we'll have the welcome mat out to give them a warm welcome to our healthy, smart, creative region."

During their stay on the Sunny Coast, the Cowboys will hold an open training session and visit schools and hospitals.
