With the fires cooling down in Rockhampton, the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) this morning stood down after transitioning into the 'alert' stage yesterday.

According to Chairman of the LDMG, Councillor Tony Williams, the fires do not currently pose a threat to the community, but encouraged residents directly affected by the fires to contact the State Governments Community Recovery program for help and keep an eye on QEFS for urgent updates.

He has also praised the emergency services for their enormous efforts as well as those who traveled to Queensland to offer their assistance.

I would like to once again pay tribute to our incredible emergency services, to those men and women who run towards danger as the rest of us move away from it, to help keep us safe... The response in our community has been heart-warming, with individuals, businesses and charities all offering time, donations, and anything they could in order to help those who had to leave their homes and seek refuge.

- Cr Tony Williams

Cr Williams ensured that the LDMG will continue to monitor weather activity in Central Queensland.
