One man is dead, and five others are injured following a two vehicle crash north of Grafton.
Summerland Way remains closed in both directions at Clifden, north of Grafton after a 4WD towing a trailer collided with another vehicle.
Triple M understands that both Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopters from Lismore and Tamworth have been called to the scene.
The crash occurred just after 2:30pm.
The male driver of the sedan died at the scene, his wife was trapped for close to two hours before being released and airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
According to NSW Ambulance, the two adults and two children in the 4WD have been transported by road ambulance to Grafton Hospital.
Emergency services, including crash investigators, remain at the scene.
Motorists are advised to use the Pacific Highway instead of Summerland Way.
Southbound light vehicles are diverted at Pringles Way to the Pacific Highway. Heavy vehicles are diverted at Casino to use the Bruxner Highway to either Pacific Highway or New England Highway.
Northbound motorists are diverted to Pacific Highway.
