Crocodile sightings are on the rise after the wet weather the region has received over the last week or so. 

Four crocodiles were spotted across the Mackay region in the last 4 days. Eimeo Beach was closed to the public for a period of time. Meanwhile, a crocodile was seen swimming in the Mackay Marina on Friday afternoon. Other locations for the Croc sightings were Slade Point and Cape Hillsborough.

Police are investigating an armed robbery in Mackay overnight. Just before midnight a man allegedly held up a Sydney Street servo with a knife. Unsuccessful he tried his luck at a convenience store on Bridge Road shortly after where he got away with some cash

A new program will address Domestic and Family Violence in The Whitsundays. Member for Mackay Julieanne Gilbert says it's about breaking down cycle. The $630,000 in State funding will trickle in over the next five years. If you need help call the DVConnect Mensline on 1800600636

LOCAL SPORT

Eager cricketers have been thwarted by the rain in Mackay. Round six of the T20 shootout was due to get underway Saturday. Due to wet weather the round was cancelled 

Northern Rays have appointed their board of directors. The new club forged between Mackay, Townsville and Cairns to compete in the Saphire Series is an exciting addition to our sporting sides. Mackay Netball President Lyn Law will take her position on the board representing our region
