The Western Bulldogs have confirmed Dale Morris has injured his anterior cruciate ligament.

Morris hyperextended his left knee - opposite to the one in which he partially tore his ACL last year - at training on Friday morning.

The Dogs confirmed on Friday afternoon the 36-year-old had "suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury", calling it a "devastating blow".

Morris partially tore his ACL in his right knee in the 2018 pre-season, but valiantly returned to play 11 games in the second half of the season.

It is unclear at this stage how much time Morris will be sidelined for.
