Triple M's Damian Barrett says Jordan De Goey's future at Collingwood is now "line ball" after being stood down by the club following his arrest in an alleged nightclub incident in New York.

De Goey has been stood down from Collingwood indefinitely after pleading not guilty to charges of "forcible touching and assault" in New York, spending a night in jail and ordered to appear in court on December 8.

De Goey and friend Luke Dyson were arrested for allegedly groping a woman and assaulting her friend.

Barrett joined Triple M's Rush Hour on Monday to explain what's next for the 25-year-old, explaining that, regardless of what lies ahead in court, De Goey's AFL career is now in severe jeopardy.

"Clearly he's not going to be part of the Collingwood system for some time," he explained. "When clubs make those decisions they do cut the AFL into the conversations. at some stage, so clearly the AFL has endorsed this situation.

"It's a long way back now though for Jordan De Goey at Collingwood, on a number of fronts.

"I'm not at all going to be surprised if they just - privately anyway - say 'look, you're out at the end of the year' and it wouldn't totally shock me if they made a decision on him prior to that (court appearance).

"We're just looking at a wasted football talent, too, when we just bring it right back to footy."
