Damian Barrett Says The Tribunal Overturning Match Review Decisions Is Sending Mixed Messages

Damian Barrett says that the tribunal continuing to overturning decisions made by Match Review Officer Michael Christian is sending mixed messages to the footy community.

“What I do have an issue with, and it’s now happened four times, because if you add the Ablett tribunal decision to the Dustin Martin reduction of two down to one, Taylin Duman got a two down to one, and Mason Cox who got one down to none, when they took cases to the tribunal,” Damo said.

“The tribunal is clearly having a different look at such matters to what the Match Review Panel is, what the Match Review Office is, and I think it’s sending a mixed message to the wider footy community that the auspices of the Match Review Office are different to the tribunal.”
