Sydney recruit Daniel Menzel is edging closer to an AFL return after booting five goals in the NEAFL against Gold Coast today.
Menzel played just his second game for the Swans’ reserves as he continues his recuperation from a groin injury after moving from Geelong to the harbour city in the off-season.
Menzel getting through the game unscathed and hitting the scoreboard puts him in the frame to debut for the Swans’ senior team at Kardinia Park against Geelong next weekend.
The Swans reserves comfortably won the game 17.14 (116) to 8.10 (58).
