Iconic Australian band Divinyls have been forced to cancel their upcoming Australian tour due to "unforeseen circumstances."

They were set to play a run of 18 shows across Australia, beginning in Geraldton on the 27th of February, before traversing the country through March.

The tour wasn't without criticism, with some close to the band declining to support the tour.

In a statement released on their Facebook, the band said:

"Due to unforeseen circumstances the forthcoming Divinyls Australian tour has been cancelled. All tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. We apologise to existing ticket-buyers for any inconvenience."

The touring line-up was to feature original guitarist Mark McEntee, LA-based singer-songwriter Lauren Ruth Ward, original Blondie guitarist and Divinyls alumni Frank Infante, and a brand new Australian rhythm section.

It was going to be the first time the band had played since a 2017 reformation in Perth, as a tribute to the late Australian icon Chrissy Amphlett.
