Police are working to track down the rightful owners of a large amount of stolen property uncovered at a Mayfield home.

On Thursday, a 30-year-old man was arrested outside a house at Blackbutt Parade, Kotara South where officers seized a stolen motorcycle and other stolen items.

Officers then executed a search warrant on a home on Havelock Street in Mayfield.

They discovered a trove of items including:

- Seven bicycles
- Five surfboards
- Electric tools
- Portable electronic equipment
- A generator
- A tent
- A lawn mower
- A whipper snipper

Officers believe these were all stolen during break-ins across the Hunter and Central Coast including Newcastle West, Broadmeadow, Islington, Kotara South, Redhead and Wyoming.

Detective Acting Inspector Geoff Little says any potential victims should get in touch with some kind of proof of ownership to have their items returned to them.

"If victims do feel some of that equipment may be theirs, certainly contact the local police station or Waratah police station," he said.

The man's been refused bail on 11 theft and driving offences to front Newcastle Court on Friday.
