Yes, we know the Oscars are on today but there's another award we're more interested in and it's the one going to this dog for his outstanding frisbee catching.

The Alliance of American Football League treated onlookers at the Orlando Apollos' game on Saturday night to quite the spectacle by bringing a bloke and his dog onto the field at half-time.

In scenes that sent the stadium into hysteria, the man - who we're assuming is some kind of champion thrower - chucked a frisbee 75 metres down the playing field, a move that was closely watched by his dog.

The pup then chased the frisbee so quickly that he actually arrived at the destination before it did, leaping into the air and successfully making the catch.

According to the game announcer, what you just witnessed was world record-breaking behaviour, although that has yet to be confirmed by Guinness World Records officials.
