Dolly Parton’s brother Floyd has passed away, aged 61.

The young brother of Dolly, songwriter and composer died on Dec. 6 after an unknown illness.

Floyd Parton wrote "Rockin' Years," Dolly's hit 1991 duet with Ricky Van Shelton. The song is the Hall of Famer's most recent No. 1 hit — she's charted several songs in the nearly three decades since, but none have reached the top of the Country Airplay charts.

Dolly and her family held a private memorial for Floyd on Monday (December 10).

"Dolly, and the entire Parton Family, wish to thank everyone for their kindness," she tells People. "Yesterday, we laid our sweet baby brother to rest. We all sang his lovely song, ‘Rockin’ Years,’ together as a family at the service to say goodbye to him. He lived a short life of love and beautiful songs."
