Failing some form of catastrophe, the Dolphins bid will win the NRL’s coveted seventeenth licence and bring a long-awaited second team into the parochial Brisbane market.

Speaking on The Big Breakfast with Marto & Margaux Triple M’s NRL insider Ben Dobbin, who broke the story of the ARLC’s preferred candidate yesterday, explained how the cashed-up bid located 40km from the CBD would not harm the Broncos or the Titans fanbases or catchment areas.

The Gold Coast Titans were the last franchise to enter the NRL in 2007 however there have been concerns expressed from league fans that Dolphins bid would receive similar concessions to AFL expansion sides Gold Coast Suns and GWS Giants when they were introduced in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Dobbin explained that this would not be the case.
