Adelaide Crows coach Don Pyke joined Jars & Louie on The Rush Hour after the Crows’ bye week… Don spent a few days in Kangaroo Island for the playing break… not a bad little getaway!

On the even competition this year, Pykey said, “there’s two games between 15 and being in the top 4!”

“Another great test against Hawthorn… We know they’re very capable so we expect and prepare for their best”.

“We’re fortunate that our game has come back pretty quickly on Thursday night… The guys are in a good head space as well, they’re not sitting back going ‘how good are we playing’ they’re sitting back saying ‘we’re in a good spot’”.

In regards to the runners, Pykey mentioned, “I quite like them, the game is unique that it’s a continuous 30 minute game, broken by quarter times… I know there was an incident a couple of weeks back, but I’m not seeing any examples of the game I’m watching where the runners are being disruptive – I’d like to see them continue”.

Louie brought up the ‘Sloaney and the tagger’ issue. He said to Pykey, “it’s something that he (Sloane) has to deal with and the club has to deal with.”

The coach responded with, “it’s one of those things. We’ve got some options and flexibility around what he can do.

We’ll continue to explore that. Gary Ablett’s gotten used to it over a number of years. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time.

That said, I was really happy with some of the things Sloaney did for us against St Kilda…

He’s a great player, and he’ll work his way through it.

I’m really confident in a month’s time this won’t even be a question and he would of worked through it.

Very comfortable and confident he’ll be fine.”
