After this morning's heavy rain and thunderstorms eased over lunchtime, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued another warning, with more chaotic weather on the way.

According to BoM, severe thunderstorms are coming, which will produce heavy rainfall, flash flooding and damaging winds.

Large hailstones are also expected further north, however it appears as though they won't hit the Sydney metropolitan area.

The State Emergency Service is advising people to not drive through floodwater, and stay indoors away from the windows.

This morning, Chatswood Bowling Club recorded 44mm of rain in 30 minutes, while West Pennant Hills had 72.5mm in one hour.

Trains and the light rail services were impacted earlier today by the rough weather, and commuters are advised to keep an eye out for live updates of any issues on public transport.
