More than 30 cars have been damaged in a series of random vandal attacks across Newcastle.

Side mirrors and car windows were smashed in the suburbs of Shortland, Maryland, Bar Beach, Merewether, Islington, Mayfield and Stockton on Friday night.

It's believed the same offenders were driving around the city, committing these offences.

Police are obtaining CCTV footage of the incidents as they try to track down the culprits, and want any witnesses to come forward.

“I’m urging anyone who may have seen anything or anyone suspicious in those suburbs mentioned, to come forward and contact investigators,” Chief Inspector Dean Olsen said.

“These incidents occurred across several suburbs and we believe there may be more victims affected; so my officers are very keen to find those responsible quickly” said Ch Insp Olsen.

“Reports of damage can also be made to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444”.
