Dreamworld's lost an icon and visitor favourite.

Sita the tiger has died after suffering from kidney failure.

She had to be put down on medical advise after she stopped eating.

A spokesperson said Sita had a long and happy life on Tiger Island.

In the wild, tigers usually live between ten and 12 years, Sita lived to the ripe, old age of 18.

She was born at the park in 1998 as one of four cubs known as the "Awesome Pawsome"

A post on the theme park's Facebook page said staff are deeply saddened by the news.

"Sita has been a phenomenal ambassador for the plight of the endangered wild tiger... and while Sita’s passing is deeply saddening, the Dreamworld team will to continue to shine the spotlight on the perilous plight of the wild tiger," the post said.
