A man will face Coffs Harbour Local Court after being caught twice on the same day for drink driving.

Around 1:45am, on Sunday morning, a 23 year old West Kempsey man was allegedly stopped by police driving his Nissan Patrol 4WD on Resort Drive at Coffs Harbour.

Officers from the Coffs Clarence Police District had attended the area in response to reports of a vehicle doing burnouts.

The man was subjected to a roadside breath test which allegedly returned a positive reading. He was arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis allegedly returned a reading of 0.135.

The man’s driver license was suspended on the spot and he was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for Mid Range PCA to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on the 15 April 2019. The man was released from police custody around 3am.

A short time later, around 4:30am, the man was allegedly seen by police driving his Nissan Patrol 4WD south on the Pacific Highway, Coffs Harbour near Bray Street.

The vehicle was stopped and the man was arrested for driving whilst suspended. He returned a positive roadside breath test, and was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station. A subsequent breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.101.

The man was charged with Mid Range PCA (Second Offence) and Drive Whilst Suspended and given conditional bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on the 15 April 2019.
