Global icon, Sir Elton John has announced he is calling it a day.

The shocking news was announced this morning (local time), with the 70 year old super star ending his career that’s spanned half a century to focus on his family.

The announcement was made via the chart toppers website.
The video took a trip down memory lane, with a journey through the stars career, beginning with him humbling begins, where he sold out the 6 date L.A residency in 1970 and to his huge stadium success.

The press conference held in New York, saw John showcase his HUGE musical catalogue to a live, intimate audience.

In the announcement John addresses although the decision was difficult, but his children will be 8 and 10 years old when the tour finishes and he wants to be there for them, saying; “I don’t want to miss this. I’ve had an amazing life, an amazing career and the priorities in my life have changed”.

Talking of the tour, John says: “I want to go out with a bang. When I say I'm ending touring, I'm not quitting music”.

John has toured since 1970 and it will all end with a 300 day tour.

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road World tour begins in September 2018 and will visit Australia December 2019.

John see's the tour like saying goodbye to a friend.
