Elton John Live Tweets About His Drug Use During Rocketman Watch Party

Elton John has taken to Twitter during a Rocketman watch party with fans to share the backstory behind some of the most intimate parts in the film, including his excessive drug use and his parents relationship.

He kicked the watch party off by saying,

"I was never interested in looking back at my career but that changed when I had children. I became less conscious about keeping it all to myself and love the idea of them having a film to go back to that captures the true spirit of their father's life."

The movie follows the life of Young Reginald Dwight, who changes his name to Elton John (played by Taron Egerton) and collaborates with singer-songwriter Bernie Taupin to become one of the most iconic figures in pop history. Set to his most beloved songs, it's the epic musical story of Elton John, his breakthrough years in the 1970s and his fantastical transformation from shy piano prodigy to international superstar.
