Service to sport as a gold medallist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Toowoomba's very own Olympic champion Emilee Cherry has been recognised for her services in the 2017 Australia Day Awards.

Emilee and fellow Fairholme girl Gemma Etheridge who were both members of the Australian Women's Rugby Sevens side that claimed gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics, were named alongside their team mates at last nights ceremony.

Emilee said she felt humbled to be named as an OAM.
