Adelaide Crows AFLWF superstar Erin Phillips has opened up on her decision to return home for the US to take up an AFLW offer.

Phillips, who has won everything there is to win in AFLW ranks twice over, spoke to Roo & Ditts on Triple M Adelaide this morning after her second league MVP award win, and revealed she was initially torn on joining the Adelaide Crows following her fathers illustrious SANFL career with fierce rivals Port Adelaide.

"I was in Phoenix on a road trip (for the Dallas Wings) and Phil Harper (Crows GM of Football Operations) gave me call," Phillips said.

"And initially I guess I was a bit nervous because it was the Adelaide Football Club  and being a Port girl I guess I was cheating on the opposition by even just taking the call.

"But Harps called and said they were putting together a team and they wanted me to play and asked where my thoughts were.

"And at the time I was getting ready for the Rio Olympics  and we could have a conversation after that had finished, and once Rio was done i was ready to play footy, and here we are..."
