EARLIER:

Tragedy has struck in China, where at least seven people have died and dozens more are injured following an explosion at the entrance of a kindergarten.

The blast rung out just before 5pm at Chuangxin Kindergarten in Feng County, Xuzhou, which is north west of Shanghai. Of course, it struck right at the time when parents had arrived to collect their children.

According to Chinese media, two people died instantly while at least five others have died in hospital. 66 people have been recorded as injured, 9 of them apparently critical.

At this stage, local police don't know what caused the blast but witnesses have suggested it may've been a gas cylinder exploding at a nearby food truck.
