What: Family Law and Family Violence presentation by Hume Riverina Community Legal Service (HRCLS).
Guest Speaker: Alison Maher Lawyer with HRCLS.

Funded by Victoria Legal Aid, the Hume Riverina Community Legal Service (HRCLS) continuity of service program gives people access to a free family lawyer at the Magistrates Court in Wangaratta and Wodonga. This lawyer can help with family violence intervention order and family law matters.

Family Law assistance can be through negotiation and advice, mediation or through court proceedings where necessary. HRCLS also provides generalist legal services on every day legal problems, including such as fines, credit and debt issues, consumer complaints and motor vehicle accidents. HRCLS also makes referrals to other services, such as financial counselling and drug and alcohol support.

Guest speaker Ms Maher will explain how the family law works in children’s matters where parents have separated as well as information on how to refer to HRCLS and what options are available for families needing assistance.
