A woman has died after a head-on crash near Grafton.
Just before 11am on Tuesday, emergency services were called Summerland Way at Junction Hill, about 5km north of Grafton, after reports a black Peugeot and a white Mazda crashed head-on.
The female driver of the Mazda died at the scene. She has not yet been formally identified; however, she’s believed to be 79 years old.
The 18 year old female driver of the Peugeot was taken to Grafton Hospital for treatment for minor injuries and is assisting police with inquiries.
Officers from Coffs Clarence Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit are at the scene and investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area as Summerland Way is expected to remain closed in both directions for a number of hours with diversions are in place.
