Driver Fatally Stabbed At Belmont South
Investigations continue.
UPDATE:
A man has been charged with murder following an alleged fatal stabbing at Belmont yesterday.
The 32-year-old was arrested at a home on Marriot Street, Belmont, just before 2pm.
He's since been refused bail and will appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
EARLIER:
A driver has suffered a fatal stab wound following an accident in Belmont South.
It's alleged a Holden Commodore and 4WD utility collided on the Pacific Highway near the Beach Street intersection at around 1:30pm this afternoon.
Police allege a 50-year-old man was found at the scene with stab wounds to the neck who later died in the John Hunter Hospital.
A 32-year-old found at the scene has been taken into custody. It's alleged the pair are known to one another.
The Homicide Squad and Lake Macquarie police are investigating.
