The coffee machines will be turned off for the final time at Caffeine Central in the Coffs Harbour City Square as the local business closes at the end of trade today.
The curtain will come down after 4 years for Steve and Kim Calder after Coffs Harbour City Council made the decision to not continue the lease and remove the kiosk from the CBD location.
Along with the owners of the business, many Coffs Harbour locals are disappointed in the decision made by the Coffs Harbour Council.
Initially, both kiosks would be removed, however, now it is just the kiosk housing Caffeine Central.
Steve and Kim Calder told Triple M it has been a tough few years trying to work with the Coffs Harbour City Council to come to an arrangement.
“In this last year, when Council said they weren’t prepared to renew our lease. We had a buyer for the business in January, then we spent the whole year battling with Council about what was happening, what the future was, then recently to find out that our business had limited tenure”, Kim said.
“This is our last trading day, then we are gone, and the kiosk is gone, and it’s going to be filled with a large vacant space”, Mrs Calder said.
The couple thanked all their customers over the years that have supported them, and their local Coffs Harbour business.
