Ford Territory Driver Charged Over Mayfield Fatal

Police have laid charges over a crash at Mayfield, which claimed the life of a Medowie woman.
A 31 year old man is accused of running a red light at the Industrial Drive and Tourle Street intersection in his Ford Territory last Monday.
His 4WD collided with a Holden Astra, killing the 65 year old female passenger instantly while the driver, her 66 year old husband, was taken to John Hunter Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Territory driver went to Maitland police station on Saturday where he was charged with with dangerous driving occasioning death; cause bodily harm by misconduct; negligent driving occasioning death; negligent driving; and proceed through red traffic light.
He's been given bail and will face Newcastle Local Court on August 24.
