Former Sydney defender Alex Johnson has joined VFL team Northern Blues as their head of development with the view of also playing for them late next season.
Johnson has endured a horrendous run of luck with five knee reconstructions restricting him to just two games in the last six seasons.
The Sydney premiership player made an emotional return to senior ranks in round 20 this year for his first game since the 2012 grand final, only for his fairytale return to be cruelly cut short the next week by yet another torn ACL.
He isn’t expected to available to play footy until August.
Johnson played 47 games for the Swans before unfortunately being delisted by them this year.
