A frantic search is underway for two children after a potential abduction.

It’s believed a man entered a property on Springfield Road in Blackburn north on Monday morning where a mother was at home with her two children.

Police allege he then stole the family’s black 2014 Mercedes Benz just before 9 am after the vehicle was caught on CCTV leaving the street.

When police arrived shortly after the incident occurred, they found a woman inside the Springfield Road home, but the 5-year-old girl and three-year-old boy were missing.

At this stage, police can not confirm whether this incident was an abduction.

Police are searching for the black Mercedes Benz C200 sedan and the man who was wearing a black hooded jumper and a face mask during the incident.
